FAQ - Insulated Glass: |
| The insulated
glass in the windows in my house are fogged up. Can
they be cleaned? Do they have to be replaced?
What will it cost? |
|
Once an insulated glass' perimeter seal has failed,
it can not be repaired and be expected to last.
The wooden and
 aluminum sashes can be reused but the
insulated glass will need to be ordered and
replaced. The glass unit usually runs from $50
to $100 for a typical window. The labor will
vary depending mainly on two factors.
If the consumer brings the sash in to our shop the cost
will be significantly less than if we have to go out
and replace it.
If the insulated glass unit is in an aluminum sash or a
wooden sash that has a marine gasket that the glass
is installed in it will require less labor than a
unit that is glued directly into a wrap-around wood
sash. The labor can vary from $50 to $200.
We will be happy to come out and quote you to replace
your fogged insulated glasses.
